Texans who want treatment for an injury or pain management can see a DOC physical therapist without first visiting a physician for a referral. PTs have training and expertise to screen patients for appropriate PT care and to recognize the need for additional medical intervention. DOC physical therapists have the healthcare luxury of immediate access to the expansive DOC healthcare team of orthopedic surgeons, pain management physicians, specialty-trained PAs, and RTs.
At DOC, physical therapists teach guests how to prevent or manage their condition to achieve long-term health benefits. PTs work with individuals to prevent the loss of mobility before it occurs by developing therapy programs for healthier, active lifestyles. DOC PT Plano is open five days a week with Mary West, PT, MSPT, as the full-time physical therapist. In 2001, Mary received her Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Southwest Texas State University. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, The Texas Physical Therapy Association, and the APTA Orthopaedics Section. As an orthopedic PT specialist, Mary specializes in exercise physiology, sports and post-surgical rehabilitation, manual therapy/myofascial release, lymphatic drainage, and Kinesio taping. Mary creates personalized treatment plans to best achieve each guest’s wellness goals.
