What is the main reason for using the ER? Convenience. DOC is open evenings and weekends. Arthritis is the most common cause of disability with 51.8 million, half of U.S. adults, age 65 and older, suffering from the disease. DOC treats arthritis. The number one reason for seeing an orthopedic surgeon in the U.S. is knee pain.

DOC’s orthopedic surgeons diagnose and treat knee conditions from minor issues to major injuries.   In the U.S., about 600,000 knee replacements and 300,000 hip replacements are performed every year. DOC surgeons perform hip and knee replacements. More than 90% of knee replacement patients experience a significant reduction in knee pain. The success rate 20 years after surgery is 85%. More than 95% of total hip replacements are successful with patients experiencing relief from hip pain. The success rate 10 years after surgery is 90-95% and 20 years after surgery 80-85%. In the U.S. alone, more than 3.5 million children 14 and younger get injured annually while playing sports or recreational activities. DOC is partnering with coaches and athletic trainers to provide care for injured athletes. Overuse is responsible for half of all sports injuries in middle and high school students.
