Back Pain

In spine and musculoskeletal cases, pain management serves a variety of purposes: to identify the source of a guest's back pain, provide an aggressive nonsurgical care program, and to rehabilitate and cope with pain if surgery is necessary. Nonsurgical treatment options to prevent or reduce back pain include medications, cortisone injections, physical therapy, regenerative medicine, and pain management.

If nonsurgical treatments fail to alleviate a guest’s pain and everyday activities are difficult or impossible, it may be time to further consult with DOC’s orthopedic surgeon. The surgeon will check for an anatomic cause of the pain that can be seen on an MRI or CT scan. Surgery is considered if the exact source of the pain is known, such as a herniated disc or spinal stenosis. Based on a comprehensive examination and imaging, the surgeon and guest will discuss surgical options for relief. The DOC orthopedic surgeons will advise the guest of the best option for the best outcome.
