Joint Pain
Joints are the connections between bones that enable a person to move. Any damage to the joints can interfere with movement and cause inflammation and pain. Many conditions can lead to painful joints, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis, gout, sprains, strains, and injuries caused by trauma or overuse. Joint pain can be mild, causing soreness only after activity, or severe, making even limited movement, especially when bearing weight, extremely painful.
The goal of joint pain treatment is to reduce pain and inflammation and preserve or restore joint function. The DOC orthopedic surgeon, PA, pain management specialist, and physical therapist will diagnose the cause of the pain and provide appropriate treatment options, which may include medications, injections, physical therapy, exercise, brace or wrap, weight loss, psychological behavior therapy, or other joint pain relief strategies customized to meet the needs of the guest.
