Cupping Therapy

Cupping is an ancient therapy practice used in traditional medicine in Egyptian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern cultures going back thousands of years. Increasing numbers of practitioners worldwide use the therapy. Cupping involves creating suction on the skin using a cup, drawing blood into an area under the skin.

According to cupping advocates, it promotes healing and relieves sore muscles for conditions such as back and neck pain and joint arthritis, and improves immune function. A recent review of the treatment describes cupping as a treatment that can “strengthen the body’s resistance, restore balance, remove disease-causing factors, and promote blood circulation.”
Healthy skeletal muscles are essential for peak performance. The physical therapists and orthopedists at DOC, after a thorough examination and necessary motion and imaging tests, will diagnose and provide the best treatment options for all musculoskeletal conditions, which may include cupping therapy.
