Graston Technique® (GT) therapy treats all soft tissue conditions, whether they are acute, chronic or postoperative. The Graston Technique uses unique handheld instruments with a specialized form of massage designed to help the DOC physical therapist to identify areas of fascial restriction. The therapy may help initiate and promote the healing process of the affected soft tissues for faster rehabilitation, improve range of motion, less pain, and restore normal function.
Common conditions treated with Graston therapy include: joint pain, neck and back pain, fibromyalgia, hamstring injuries, IT band, tennis elbow, and scar tissue. Research indicates a relatively high success rate with Graston for patients with chronic pain and acute pain from soft tissue injuries, both in terms of improving the patient's function and reducing pain.
